Broken But Still Beautiful Pendant with 14k Gold

This garden quartz had a little accident — I dropped it on my studio floor the same day it arrived, and a piece of the back chipped away. My heart sank for a moment… and then I realized, this stone is just like the rest of us. It has places that cracked, parts that had to be mended, and a quiet history the outside world will never see. I patched the back with resin because it was simply too gorgeous to give up on, and honestly, you’d never know unless you were the one wearing it. All you see from the front is calm minty green inner landscapes. But hidden beneath is a reminder I think so many of us need: we can be repaired, held together, and still shine just as beautifully — maybe even more so.

Because of its hidden story, I’ve priced this piece a bit lower than usual. Consider it a small nod to the beauty of imperfection and the tenderness of second chances.

• Natural large artisan cut garden quartz. The pendant has an open frame back allowing the quartz to rest against your skin when worn.
• Recycled 14k gold and oxidized sterling silver. The silver has been handwaxed in a museum restoration wax to preserve and deepen the finish.
• Offered as a pendant alone, it will easily slide onto your favorite chain or purchase one of my chains. Pendant measures a pinch over 1 1/2" long.
• One of a kind pendant and ready to ship!

What is oxidized silver?

Oxidized silver is created by a chemical reaction. Each oxidized piece is protected with a museum quality restorative wax. This allows for depth and shine while creating a light barrier from skin oils and other chemicals that will cause the patina to lighten more rapidly. However, even with this protective wax, you can expect that your piece of jewelry will brighten over time with wear. The darkness will hold in small crevices and areas having tool marks. Rings and necklaces that touch the skin for prolonged periods are more prone to lightening than earrings. Over time your piece will develop it’s own personality and unique patina that I hope you fall in love with. Should you ever wish to darken your piece and bring it back to its original patina, I’m happy to do this for you at no charge other than shipping or provide you with a patina kit and instructions for a nominal fee.

Is recycled gold less valuable?

When you see the term recycled gold, what comes to mind? Some people imagine scraps or lower-quality metal, but the truth is: recycled gold is real gold. Just like water can be purified and reused, gold can be refined and reworked—again and again—without ever losing its value or purity. For more in depth information read my blog post.

How do I care for my jewelry?
  • To prolong the original look of your jewelry, storing your piece of jewelry in a sealed plastic container or baggie.
  • Each piece of jewelry is shipped with a mini polishing cloth. However, a polishing cloth should not be used on oxidized silver.
  • Full jewelry care instructions can be found here.
Do you ship internationally?

Although this isn't an offering on my website due the continually rising shipping costs, I do try to accommodate international shipping requests. Please contact me and include your full shipping address for a quote. Insurance is required and the full amount of the piece will be noted on the customs declaration form. Please not that your country may add a duty tax and I recommend looking into this prior to purchase.
